The updated COVID-19 vaccine can help lower the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, or death from COVID-19. For the most recent information on the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine, click here.

Vaccine recommendations by age

  • Everyone ages 6 months and older should get a 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine.
  • It is especially important to get your 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine if you are ages 65 and older, are at high risk for severe COVID-19, or have never received a COVID-19 vaccine.
    • People 65 years and older and those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should receive a second dose of 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine six months after their first dose. These updated recommendations also allow for flexibility for additional doses (i.e., three or more) for those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised, in consultation with their health care provider (a strategy known as shared clinical decision making).
